H&A Architects & Engineers, a Richmond-based design firm, announces the following new certifications:

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Stefana Petrova, passed the Certified GeoExchange Designer (CGD) exam. The CGD program is designed to recognize professionals who have demonstrated high levels of experience, competence, proficiency, and ethical fitness in applying the principles and practices of geothermal heat pump design and related disciplines.

The CGD certification is granted by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and sponsored by the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium® (GHPC).

Petrova is the first engineer at H&A to earn this distinction.

Electrical Engineer, Trevor Gooding, RCDD, passed the Outside Plant Design (OSP) exam and is now a BICSI Registered Communications Distribution (RCDD)/OSP Designer.

The RCDD/OSP Designer is a telecommunications professional who is able to demonstrate proficiency in outside plant design, including: OSP right-of-way and route design; OSP space design (maintenance holes, ducts, vaults); underground, direct-buried, and aerial plant design; OSP cabling hardware; and OSP grounding, bonding, and electrical protection systems.

Electrical Engineer, Andrew Fleenor, passed the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) Green Associate exam.

The LEED Green Associate is a professional that denotes basic knowledge of green design, construction and operations.

H&A has six LEED Green Associates on staff.

Each of the newly certified employees works at the firm’s Glen Allen office location.
