Services // Strategic & Urban Planning
Strategic urban planning integrates land use, zoning, transportation, housing, environmental, economic development, and public facilities policies of the community and creates a realistic vision to guide the future development and growth patterns of the area.
H&A understands that the application of strategic planning to urban contexts, cities, or regions is development with eminently practical origins; when cooperation is used to carry out strategic planning processes a reasonable degree of comprehension has to be reached between local government, businesses and a large segment of the population. Then organizational synergies develop, eventually improving management of resources and citizens’ quality of life.
The key to success for a strategic plan is to develop a full understanding of the community attitudes and objectives. We believe this takes more effort than reviewing codes, studies, and statistics, and swooping in for a one- or two-day charrette. It is a process that develops over time, with ongoing interaction with governing agencies, private citizens, and interest groups.
